It’s not the end of the year just yet, but this is the last post I’ll make for 2016. So as the sun sets on the past, let me share some parting wisdom to take us into 2017. Uhuuuuk!

Last night, while deleting some old pictures, I found this one. A blurry shot taken with a budget smartphone – it hardly looks like much. Yet, it was exactly what I needed to see.
What’s so special about this picture?

#BunTingStory: A Weekend Jaunt to Salatiga

img_20161225_063820-01

As a working person with limited number of leave days, I’m always happy whenever I manage to do a quick weekend getaway – it may be short and doesn’t leave much time for exploration, but sometimes you just need that quick rejuvenation.

One of my favorite things to do recently is take quick trips on the warm weekends. It doesn’t have to be far – a friends house, visit your parents, even just a day at the beach – I just love the drive with the windows down and the almost-instant relaxation that sets in when you leave the city. The best part about quick trips is they can be spontaneous, just grab a few essentials and go!

So…What to do on my weekend getaway to Salatiga? Continue reading

Can two people be content wedged together on one vespa, with one holding all the power of maneuvering the machine and one literally putting his or her life in the hands of the operator? Sure! Thousands of couples ride vespas two-up for thousands of miles a year and love it. Just like us. Continue reading

Happy Monday!

I feel like it was a lifetime since I wrote Weekly Photo Challenge post. So this is a light picture post as far as Weekly Photo Challenge posts go, but it was still a great one. These photos are the last from my weekend. They were taken on Sunday afternoon right after Iting and I finished our side job as event organizer. Continue reading

#BunTingStory: Cepu Travelogue – Meaningful Holiday and Fun Family Activities

img_20161212_111727-01

Everyone needs a break from the usual routine and that includes our parents too. The chance to revisit special places with treasured memories, or explore somewhere new can really lift our mood and give us a feeling of well being. Whether it’s a fun day out to a local attraction, a long weekend, or a trip to somewhere sunny and warm, there are lots of holiday options to choose from, depending on our parent’s health, general mobility, and budget.

The great thing about the holiday season — is having the chance to spend valuable time with our loved ones, show our appreciation for one another and overall, give thanks. Holiday traditions are important in every family, regardless of religion or how you choose to observe the holiday season. They provide meaningful and cherished lifelong memories and more so, an opportunity to spend quality time together.

Hehehe Continue reading

The Price of Freedom

Postingan ini ditulis sambil mantengin situs nyari tiket pesawat buat liburan tahun depan bareng suami, sambil menikmati bakso yang lewat depan rumah pas gerimis syahdu gini. Sejenak jadi mikir. Gara-gara pusing nyari tiket, bukan perkara harganya tapi ngatur waktunya. PPPppffTTTttt

Hmm…Freedom.

We throw the word around a lot.

Kids want freedom from adult authority. Parents want their kids to enjoy freedom from peer pressure.

The LGBT community wants freedom from societal expectations of sexuality and gender norms. African Americans want freedom from racial profiling. Women want freedom from chauvinism and patriarchal social structures.

We all want freedom.
But what is it really?
And if you knew exactly what it was, what price would you put on it?

#BunTingStory: Belajar Mengelola Keuangan Setelah Menikah

16-12-08-09-39-54-834_deco-01-01

I know talking about money can be a little awkward; the goal of my post today is not to suggest that our way is the only way or to imply that we “have it all together” in every aspect of our life. It is simply to show some methods that have helped improve our financial picture and that are possible for everyone to try or consider.

Before I get into my list, though, I want to share my big, overarching secret with you when it comes to managing finances: It’s all about your mindset. SERIUS DEH! There have been times in my adult life where I have played the victim when it comes to our finances, thinking things like, “I wish we could just be normal. I want to go into one store and buy whatever I want without having to worry about shopping around for deals or staying under budget. I’m sick of tracking our spending,” etc., etc., etc.

And you know what?

I easily get off track when my mindset is negative. When I am excited about saving and meeting our financial goals, though, it almost ends up being like a fun game. It’s a challenge to see how much we can save and what we can do to improve our financial picture. Make it fun. Make it a challenge. Keep the big picture in mind, stay focused, and stay positive. That’s the real key to making this thing work.

Ini beberapa cara sederhana yang sudah kami aplikasikan dalam keluarga kecil #BunTingStory. Tentunya seiring berjalannya waktu ke depan pasti ada perubahan.

Ready to hear our secrets? Here we go!

Where Do I Belong?

Lately I have been having some intense mood swings. Some days I feel like I am on top of the world, like my life has never been better before; other times I can get frustrated and angry for absolutely no reason. All of a sudden everything seems to irritate me and I feel like throwing stuff around. It feels a bit weird to be honest.

My life now is better manageable than it was over the last 5 years; I finally have some time again to rest and do some things just for the enjoyment of it, which I have not been able to do in the 5 years before. It sure seems like I should be able to handle the things that are going on. And yet, for some reason, I feel totally out of control on a weekly basis.

For example, last Sunday was an easy day for me. I woke up after 8 hours of sleep. The only thing I had planned to do that day was to go skating. And somehow, that was already too much. After a few hours I was so immensely tired and frustrated that I felt like kicking something. Once I am in that kind of mood I know there is nothing I can do except for wait it out and mostly sleep it out. The thing that baffled me was that normally such a mood only occurs if I have been doing too many things that day, which was definitely not the case that Sunday.

What is happening with me? Continue reading

Nothing

nothing

Photo from here

It feels like I have nothing to write about; like my life is on pause and nothing is going on. It feels like this for a little while already to be honest. Like I am waiting for something, though I am not sure what I am actually waiting for. Am I waiting for someone to come along and safe me? I do not know. Maybe. It would be nice for sure, though I do not think anyone can safe me. I need to safe myself.

Am I waiting for a new opportunity to show up so I can grab it? I sort of am I guess. That is how it always has been. I just lived my life and ideas and opportunities just came to me without difficulty. They were just there and all I had to do is decide which opportunity or idea to follow first and which one after that. Continue reading

#BunTingStory: I Am An Unromantic Person

Photo from here

Photo from here

I’m trying not to procrastinate my posting or else my momentum would be lost again.

It’s been close to 3 months and sometimes I still wonder what my husband sees in me. I swear anybody, especially if one’s of the opposite sex, would have already surrendered before we hit our third month together because of my stubborn temper. hahaha

My mindset in a way deters people from knowing me, I know that, especially guys which explains why at the age of 19, I’m only in my second relationship (and probably the final one :)). Because according to my friends, they feel threatened and overshadowed as I’m not your usual girly-girl. During my secondary school years, I distant myself from guys A LOT even when they want to get to know me.

I can be considered as a feminist, but in a different way because I do not consider both genders to be equal. When I have many heavy cartons that need to be transported, I’d still love the males to be the ones doing it.  Basically I just enjoy the feeling of empowerment. You’re right, I’m a man in a female’s body. Continue reading
