In this blog post, I’m going to be talking about why confidence is so important, my journey and tips for you to become more confident. It’s not easy and I wouldn’t even say I’m a confident person, but I guess I just give less of a shit now what other people think of me.
This is so cliche and basically said all the time but life is too short! One day you might die (ok you will just trying not to be too morbid) and if you were to watch your life back at the end of it – you would wish that you just did the things you wanted to do, wore what you wanted to wear and were the person you wanted to be without caring what others think of you.
Oh blog how I have neglected you since last week…my sincerest apologies, but at least others were on top of their posting since I had a brief “blogcation” to celebrate the holidays…
After what seemed like a long-lost memory spending 2 years in and out of restrictions, this Eid al-Fitr, we can finally celebrate again. We’re so thankful to be able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with our family this year. The combination of getting older and also having time stolen from the pandemic means that I’m cherishing experiencing holidays with loved ones even more than I did before.
Today I want to rewind a bit and share a few pictures from our last weekend. I am so behind with off-loading pictures from my phone onto this blog, but I’m going to do my best to play catch up because we’ve had some sweet happenings lately that I’d love to share here.
What better way to spend a beach vacation than waking up with sand out your tent door and the waves crashing at your feet?!
When I say car camping, I don’t mean sleeping in your car, although that is an option some people choose. I mean you drive your car and park it at your campsite, allowing you to bring some luxuries along that wilderness camping does not.
Having a campsite right on the beach is key, because you don’t have to lug toys, sun tent, etc back and forth and you can just walk over and nap your kids in the tent if you need be. Also, shade is important. So we went for the car camping to Yogyakarta.
I can’t believe that you are 3 years old already. I know I’m going to ask myself this each time you turn a year older. As I am sitting to write this letter for you, you are sleeping by my side and am watching how much you have grown in these three years. I can see the whispers of the woman you will be one day. You are smart, strong-headed, bold and confident. You are clear about your choices and know what you want. And as much I feel overwhelmed by this quality right now (because your demands for toys are endless for now), I do appreciate it as I know this will only help you in future. You won’t be a confused and a shy girl like your mom was in her teens, you would rather be an extrovert and an outgoing one, ready to take on the world in her stride. I hope you stay this way and only become better and smarter.
Now as you are growing up Chiara, there are a few things I want you to know and remember for life. Right now, you are in a secured and loved environment. Both me and your dad try to give you the best of comfort and safety. But in a few years, as you would step out of the house to be on your own, you would see the world is very different. It’s tough, harsh and challenging. You’ll have to be really careful in your choice of friends. You will meet all sorts of people. Some will uplift you (treasure them!) and some will pull you down. Just forgive the latter and move on in life. Never let any experience (the good, the bad or the ugly) get on you. Always remember who you are and stick to your values.
Ten years?! Today marks one decade since I started my blog. I am beyond grateful for each and every one of you.
It’s always great to look back, isn’t it?
Thank you to all of those who have deemed my blog worthy of your precious time. It’s kind of an ongoing experiment, and I’m so grateful for every person who has returned even once to see what’s going on. Here’s hoping for another great year!
“Great,” you think, “this all sounds like a good idea. I’ll give it a go sometime.”
So many hopes and dreams die in that strange no-man’s land called “someday.” How many of us waste time and energy because we believe in holding out for some better moment to start somewhere far off in the future?
The status quo is comfortable, familiar, and already full in swing. It takes effort and discomfort to break that momentum. When you start telling yourself all the reasons why you can’t begin yet? That’s just plain old resistance. The right moment never actually comes, and in waiting for it, you delay starting indefinitely.
If there is one book that you must read to your toddler, it is – “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.
Carle is an American designer, illustrator and writer. His most noted children’s book – The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has been translated into more than 66 languages.
The book features a caterpillar who eats his way through a wide variety of food stuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly. It is a story of a small caterpillar who emerges from an egg and loves eating. So he begins to look for some food and eats through increasing quantities of both healthy and unhealthy food. The night he eats unhealthy food he gets a stomachache.
The next morning the caterpillar tries again and begins by eating one green leaf (which is a proper food for caterpillars). By following the right food, he feels much better. At the end, he is not hungry anymore and is no longer a little Caterpillar too. The big, fat caterpillar builds a cocoon around itself and finally emerges as a beautiful butterfly.
Here’s why this book is a must read for every toddler
